Before knowing all about the geography of Nha Trang, it is important to about the geography of whole Vietnam. Vietnam is dominated basically by a tropical monsoon climate and the average humidity of this place is nearabout 84% throughout the year. But the climate of this country varies considerably from place to place because of difference in latitude and the marked variety of topographical relief.

During the winter or dry season which extends roughly from November to April, the monsoon winds usually blow from the northeast along the China coast and across the Gulf of Tonkin and it takes away with itself a considerable amount of moisture. Due to this reason, the winter season in most parts of the country is quite dry in comparison with the rainy or summer season.
Average Temperature of Nha Trang:
The average annual temperature is generally higher in the plains than in the mountains and plateaus and varies less, going between 21 and 28 degree Celsius over the course of a year. The seasons in the mountains and plateaus are much more dramatic, and temperatures vary from 5 degree Celsius in December and January to 37 degree Celsius in April.
Geography of Nha Trang:
The metropolitan area of the Nha Trang city extens to 251 sq.km and the total population of this city is about 500,000 according to the census of 2007. This city is surrounded by the Ninh Ḥa town by northern direction, Cam Ranh city by the southern direction, Diên Khánh town by the west and by the South China Sea.
The city is located on a beautiful bay which is known among the tourists as the Nha Trang Bay. This sea shore has been selected as one of the hottest destination for the Travel and Leisure travelers in two succeeding years as one of 29 most beautiful bays in the world. Nha Trang is surrounded on all three sides by mountains and a large island on the fourth side which is situated in the in the ocean directly in front of the city's main area and protects the city from all the major storms which have the ability to potentially damage the city.
The climate of this is dominated by average temperature and rainfall of the whole country. Throughout the whole country the kind of diversity you will see, it cannot be observed in this city. But in the specific seasons the climate of Nha Trang will change accordingly and it will be observed quite explicitly.
